Charter Oak Collaborative:
Teaching American History in the Capitol Region

This exciting initiative is designed to raise student achievement by improving teachers' knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of American history. It will significantly change the way American History is taught in middle schools and high schools.
CREC's partners include the University of Connecticut (History Department and Neag School of Education, local school districts (Bolton, East Hartford, Manchester, and Vernon) as well as a number of museums and historical societies. Fifty teachers are participating in our 2011-12 program which features a series of field trips, dine and discuss sessions and a summer institute all focused on the topic of Civil Liberties.
We appreciate this opportunity, funded under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act |
