CASAS has modified the 2003 Functional Writing Assessment (FWA) training materials, redesigned writing prompts and refined policies, which will have a positive effect on writing assessment in Connecticut. These modifications have resulted in the implementation of some new policies and procedures that will enhance writing training, ensure quality scoring and feedback to students and teachers, and build additional capacity for local scoring for formal reporting purposes.
