CT Works Assesment Services

CT Works Career Assessment Services of the North Central Region provides basic skills (reading and math) and career interest assessments by contract for customers working with case managers in the CT Works/One-Stop system. Services are delivered at the five North Central Region sites, which include Bristol, Enfield, Hartford, Manchester, and New Britain. Capacity-building activities are also provided regionally for all one-stop staff.

In addition to basic assessment services, CREC provides a variety of capacity-building and technical assistance activities to one-stop partner agencies. Case Conferencing is a capacity-building function, developed and facilitated by CREC since August 2003. This function brings together partner agency staff to focus on challenging job seeker cases to develop strategies and additional options for the job seeker. Case Conferencing meetings are offered in Hartford, Enfield, and New Britain on a monthly basis. Having been recognized by the National Career Development Association and statewide as a best practice, Case Conferencing continues to bring together case managers, job developers, community service representative, vocational counselors, and evaluation specialists to focus on job seeker needs.

CREC’s mission at CT Works North Central Region is to enhance the individual customer experience through the use of various assessments, to facilitate the Case Conferencing function system wide, as a staff capacity building tool, and to offer recommendations to case managers for referrals to Adult Education programs.

CREC Career Assessment Services, supports the case management function for adults and youth (16-24) receiving individual services under the Workforce Investment Act and the Jobs First Employment Services program. CREC Career Assessment Services provide valuable information to our “CT Works” customers and case managers to assist in determining job/training readiness and career interest.
