The decision to send your child to school in another district is complex. You know your child best, so consider the benefits and drawbacks of adjusting to new surroundings and classmates. Some students adapt easily to their new educational environments, while others find the transition more difficult.
The application process begins in January with open houses for families new to the program. Applications are distributed at the open houses and assistance with completing them is available. Completed applications must be received by the deadline in order for your child to be placed into the lottery system.
Enrollments are offered by school districts on a space-available basis by grade, and random lotteries are used to place students when applicants exceed the number of placements available.
If your child is not placed, you may reapply the following year. If your child is placed, you do not need to reapply each year to continue to participate in the Capitol Region Choice Program.
