This year, twenty-nine school
districts are participating in the Capitol Region Choice Program.
The level of participation varies among districts with the smallest
having only 1 student and largest having 90.
The decision by districts to participate in the
Choice Program depends on the spaces available for new students. Once
a Hartford student is placed in a suburban district through the Choice
Program, the student is the responsibility of that district until
they graduate.
Suburban students also come to schools
in Hartford through the Choice Program. The schools in Hartford
that had openings this year are the classical magnet schools, the
charter schools and the high school academies.
