The Department of Communications fosters public understanding of, and support for, CREC’s mission.

What We Do

Branding Guidelines: CREC’s Department of Communications is responsible for developing and maintaining CREC’s brand guidelines. These guidelines define how CREC conveys its visual identity, including logos, colors, fonts, images, and messaging.

Community Relations: The Department of Communications aims to enhance and maintain collaborative initiatives between CREC and the greater Hartford community and beyond. We work closely with the CREC Foundation to develop and strengthen relationships with local partners and potential funders.

Events: The Department of Communications is responsible for maintaining CREC’s master calendar. The master calendar keeps internal staff and external clients up-to-date with important activities and events, and enables the Department to plan support, materials development, and marketing for your event.

Fundraising: The Department of Communications oversees the development office and the work of the CREC Foundation. The CREC Foundation serves to increase public awareness and support for the CREC mission by building relationships with community partners, business partners, and individuals. The foundation provides donors an opportunity to support CREC through charitable donations private gifts. The development office also hosts events and fundraising opportunities on behalf of CREC and CREC programs. More information can be found on the CREC Foundation website.

Marketing & Advertisement: Our department works with CREC’s programs and with CREC Schools to market various programs and events to our clients. We also develop print (newspaper, magazine) and web advertisements for hiring, recruitment, event marketing, and sale of service.

Media: We help connect CREC division, programs, and individuals with journalists interested in their events, work, and opinions. We ensure that the news media are aware of important developments within the CREC community. We also maintain the CREC News and Social Media pages, and we provide updates to CREC staff about CREC’s media presence.

Photography and Audio/Video Production: Our production team records and edits high-quality audio and video for the web, radio, or other distribution/marketing purposes. The department also provides photography assistance for major events, news, or other media.

Publications: To highlight the work and achievements of CREC’s many programs and divisions, we develop a wide range of publications materials, including regular publications such as the Annual Report, Programs and Services Document, Monthly Council Report, and the Magnet Schools Circular. We also provide design and publication assistance for brochures, catalogues, flyers, and other printed materials. The Department of Communications is responsible for proofing and editing all published materials.

CREC Merchandise and Company Store: The Department of Communications provides production assistance for all CREC merchandise and promotional goods. We offer a range of products through our company store. We can also order customized items for your school or program. There is a wide selection of items and vendors to choose from.
