Space is available for adult students in a Direct Care Training Program that begins Monday, January 23 with the Transition to Employment unit of the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC).

The program, now in its 15th year of operation, trains individuals to assist adults, children or teens with developmental disabilities.  Students are prepared to work with adults in residential, employment or recreational settings; or with children and teens in residential and educational settings.  The 12-week program includes a classroom component and an internship in a local human services agency.  Job readiness training and job placement assistance are provided.  Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid Connecticut driver’s license and have no serious police record.
