Measuring Student Performance
Student performance measures will be based on a combination of value-added modeling (VAM) and scored student work samples.
Measuring Teacher Performance
With the guidance of project leadership and input from a focus group of teachers and principals, CREC will engage in a rigorous design process leading to a standards-based classroom appraisal system. The system will include observation protocols and scoring rubrics, formative feedback and summative rating tools that are aligned with the Connecticut Common Core of Teaching standards (CCCT).
The appraisal system will focus on behaviors correlated with effective instruction. The system will be designed and piloted in years one and two, revised based on formative feedback from participants and evaluators in year three, and integrated with student performance segment of the system in years four and five.
Measuring Administrator Performance
Administrator evaluation will be aligned with the instructional rubrics developed for teachers. Measures will also include student performance and professional appraisal of the leaders’ ability to recruit, support, and retain highly effective teachers.
