Welcome! The CREC Foundation, a tax-exempt charitable 501 (c)(3) organization was established in 2005 to support the Capitol Region Education Council its members, programs, and schools. The Foundation is governed by a board of directors. By design, the majority of CREC Foundation directors also serve on the Capitol Region Education Council.

Mission
The Foundation's mission is to secure and steward private funds to enhance the educational endeavors of CREC. The Foundation works in partnership with CREC to help it achieve its vision by accomplishing goals not otherwise possible.

The Foundation serves four primary goals for CREC:

• To serve as a non-profit corporation which is authorized to solicit and accept grants, bequests and contributions from individuals, organizations, businesses and corporations
• To provide funds and resources for selected programs, services, ideas and projects
• To recognize contributions of individuals, institutions and organizations who have assisted in the advancement of the foundations mission
• To strengthen community partnerships and shared interests in education

Why CREC needs a foundation
As state and federal support continue to decline, private investment is becoming increasingly important to educational institutions like CREC. The Foundation serves as a vehicle for private support which helps leverage state and federal funds and allow CREC to continue to provide exceptional services, teaching, and learning opportunities.

The CREC Scholarship Program
College scholarships allow promising students to attain their educational goals, meet their professional objectives and succeed to their fullest ability. The CREC Foundation, in an effort to support promising high school students who attend CREC programs, magnet schools, and Open Choice is currently working to establish an endowed college scholarship program. The intent of the scholarship program will be to promote access to higher education and to help bridge the financial gap that economically disadvantaged but promising college bound students face. Through the creation of the CREC Foundation Scholarship program, deserving and financially disadvantaged students will have a chance to pursue their educational dreams.

The CREC Foundation seeks to establish the endowed scholarship through donations provided by private donors, foundations, and corporations. Income generated from the endowment will create an annual scholarship for a student.
