CREC Student Teacher and Internship Placements Procedures
The Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) recognizes teachers, school social workers, school psychologists, and other human service professionals in training need rich educational experiences to fully develop their skills. Therefore, to assist in the development of these pre-professionals, CREC encourages its magnet schools and student services programs to utilize these trainees when it is appropriate and safe. The CREC Human Resources Department is responsible for the coordination of placement requests.
Submit all required student teacher/ internship materials to your college or university, completing all necessary requirements.
Step 2
After approval from your college or university, the faculty member coordinating the internship will send your application to CREC Human Resources. Please note any special requests on the application.
Step 3
CREC Office of Human Resources will send the application to the appropriate administrator informing them of any special requests.
Step 4
The principal or program administrator will notify Human Resources if a placement is available. Human Resources will contact the college or university placement office regarding the availability of a placement.
Step 5
The college or university placement office will instruct you to contact the Cooperating Teacher to schedule an interview. Meet with the cooperating teacher and review of the handbook and additional materials. Download and read the Handbook for Student Teachers and Supervisors (pdf)

Step 8
Based on the outcome of interview, the principal or program director will communicate acceptance of the individual placement to the Human Resources department.
Step 9
Human Resources will notify the sending college or university.
Step 10
