The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, Greater Hartford’s first interdistrict magnet school, recently celebrated 25 years of bringing outstanding arts instruction to high school students in the greater Hartford area with a Gala Reception and Alumni Concert. There were two goals for the event: to bring Academy alumni back to the campus and to raise funds for the Academy’s Endowment.
The Gala Reception and Concert were held on June 11th and featured well know jazz musician Jimmy Green (Music 93) along with Zaccai Curtis (Music ‘99), David Baron (Music 2006) and Jake Goldbas (Music 2007). Also featured on the program were Caine Keenan (Dance ’00), recently named by Dance Magazine as one of the top 25 dancers in the nation, and vocalists Taylor Noble (Music ’08) and Michelle Murray Fiertek (Music ’95). Nicole Duennebier (Visual Arts ’01) had a one person show in the Lobby Gallery.
The evening was a huge success raising more than $50,000 for the Endowment and re-engaging many alumni with the Academy. Stay tuned for the next event!
