For students entering grades 8, 9, or 10 in September from any Greater Hartford area school who have a desire to develop their skills in musical theater.

June 30 – July 31, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.
Performances are July 30 & 31 at 7:30 p.m.

WHO:
Any student entering grades 8, 9, or 10 in September from any Greater Hartford school with a desire to develop his/her skills in musical theater.
FACULTY:
Professional Artists from the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts.
DAILY SCHEDULE: Students will attend classes (acting, voice, movement) in the morning. There will be a lunch break followed by three hours of rehearsal. The program will culminate with the performance of Pippin. In the past, we have produced Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Once On This Island, The Wiz, Guys & Dolls, and Once Upon a Mattress.
Students will begin each class with intensive exercises in ensemble building, focus and concentration, voice, diction and improvisation. Students will concentrate on solo and duet work as well as pieces for the final production. The program will accommodate students at various levels of performance skills from beginner to advance.
Students must have a strong desire to participate and a commitment to attend the entire five-week program.
COST: The program is funded, in part by an inter-district grant from the Connecticut State Department of Education. Lunch is provided by the Hartford Board of Education. Parents must supply transportation to and from the Academy. In addition, parents are asked to make a contribution that will be used to help fund the program. The suggested amount is $100.
HOW TO APPLY: Please return the attached application form to the Academy no later than March 28 @ 4:00 p.m. (Once the completed application is received, students will be scheduled for a group audition and interview on Saturday, April 26 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m
