Each application received after the deadline will be dated and time stamped when received. Late applicants will be added to the waiting list in the order in which the application is received.
For purposes of the lottery, siblings of students who will be attending Great Path the next year will be admitted outside of the lottery. A sibling is a brother, sister, or other person with the same guardian as the student who already attends Great Path Academy and who also resides with that guardian and enrolled Great Path student during the school week.
Applicants with siblings of a multiple birth will be treated as one applicant in the lottery process.
Applicants apply for specific grades and will only be considered for that grade. To be considered a tenth grade student, the applicant must have earned five credits, one of which is in English. To be considered for the junior year, the applicant must have earned ten credits, two of which must be in English. And applicants to senior year must have earned fifteen credits, three of which must be in English. All credits must be earned by August 15 of the year of entry.
If an applicant moves, he or she must notify the Great Path office immediately. The participating town in which the new address is located will be used as the town for the lottery census and the student will either be admitted from that participating town or added to the waiting list in that town.
The lottery will be held on the second Monday after the deadline for applications.
Notification
All lottery entrants will receive a letter stating whether the student was admitted or the number they will hold on the waiting list. If admitted, the return acceptance form will be sent. Students will have until March 31, or the next business day, if March 31 is not a business day, to accept or decline the seat. If a seat is declined, then the next student on that town’s waiting list will be notified that a seat is available. If a seat opens during the school year, the next person on the waiting list will be contacted and his or her parent will have five business days from the date of contact to accept or decline the seat.
Waiting List
If openings occur after the lottery admission process is completed, then the following rules will apply:
- Offers of acceptance will be made based on the order of the names on the waiting list, beginning with number one.
- If no applicants exist on the waiting list, the next applicant from that district may be admitted.
- Students will be accepted through September 30 of their senior year.
- Students may enter Great Path by September 30 or on the first day of the next semester, whichever is earlier.
