We welcome young children 3 to 5 years old, their families, MPTP students and staff, as well as community visitors. The MPTP Lab Preschool offers full day programming, Monday through Friday, 5 days per week for a full school year. Before and after extended day programming is also provided for families on a fee basis.

Mission: The mission of the preschool is to provide a safe, positive, nurturing learning environment where children can develop cognitively, emotionally, physically and socially.

Philosophy: Although the program in each classroom will vary to reflect the ages and interests of the children and the teacher´s style, a basic philosophy remains constant throughout the Laboratory Preschool. We believe in helping each child develop through the social, emotional, physical, creative, and intellectual domains. Underlying this philosophy and the methods used to attain these goals are certain basic principles of development.

Specific goals include:

• Increasing independence in approaching and solving problems, promoting self-esteem and confidence
• Promoting cooperation and other pro-social behaviors
• Fostering cognitive learning, oral language, preliteracy and math development
• Fostering creativity and self-expression in art, music, and dramatic play
• Stimulating and supporting curiosity
• Promoting physical/gross motor development to engage both hemispheres of a child´s developing brain
