All fifth grade students residing in the six participating school districts (Bloomfield, East Windsor, Enfield, Hartford, Windsor, and Windsor Locks) are eligible to apply to the MLC, regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin, or handicapping condition. Students will be selected by lottery.
Applications can be requested from the Metropolitan Learning Center at (860) 242.7834 or fill out a form online by clicking the link below.
A student may only enter the lottery in grade 6. If not selected, they are placed on a waiting list by town. For any grade beyond 6, an application must be completed, and students will be added to master waiting list.
Sibling Policy
This policy is being phased out year by year ever since the 2002-2003 academic school year began. The state legislature has mandated the ending of the sibling policy of automatic placement in incoming 6th graders to lottery magnet schools with siblings presently enrolled. This upcoming year, this policy only applies to the siblings of 11th and 12th grade students entering in the 6th grade next academic year.
The application process for the 2009–10 school year is now closed.
Late applications can be submitted at the Regional School Choice Office (RSCO) beginning Monday, March 2, 2009, and will be date and time stamped.
Families wishing to change information sent through a previously submitted application should contact the RSCO at (860) 757.6188 by Wednesday, March 4, 2009.
