At the University of Hartford Magnet School, the Extended Day Program is an extension of the students’ learning environment. Through multiple activities that support the different intelligences, the staff provides a safe, fun, enrichment-based, program for the students to explore their interests.
New programs are added regularly to give each child opportunities in the intelligences they excel in, as well as those they may not have explored. Our belief is that the Extended Day Program not only supports the academic environment, but also enhances the social and emotional part of each child.
Why After School Programs?
Students who spend 1-4 hours per week in extra curricular activities are 49% less likely to use drugs and 37% less likely to become teen parents. After school programs have proven their worth. They help children learn and keep them safe, while relieving working parents of worries about their children’s care during the hours after school.
