CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts to Perform Modern Romeo and Juliet

Summary:

The CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts’ production of William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” will open January 16, 2015 at the Black Box Theater at the Theater for the Performing Arts in Hartford.

“Romeo and Juliet” is Shakespeare’s most famous and tragic love story, and CREC Academy of the Arts’ students will perform the story with a modern-day twist. Two families hate one another and cannot accept that their children have fallen in love. In the school’s version of the story, Romeo and Juliet will both be women.

The production will be directed by Joni Weisfeld, a faculty member at the CREC Academy of the Arts.

In addition to the January 16 performance, additional performances will be held on January 17, January 23, and January 24. All shows will begin at 7:30 pm.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. To purchase tickets, call 860-757-6388 on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets can also be bought in person at the CREC Academy of the Arts’ box office, and they can be purchased online at www.crec.org/theater. Additional charges apply to online ticket orders.
