CREC Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Advances to 2017 CIAC Boys Basketball Semifinals

(Hartford, CT) The CREC Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Boys Basketball Team defeated the Creed High School Howling Wolves 62-46 in the 2017 CIAC Boys Basketball State Championship Class S quarterfinals on Monday night, advancing to the semifinals on Wednesday. The CREC Aerospace Jets are scheduled to face off against the top-seeded Westbrook High School Knights at 7:00 p.m. at Hand High School, 286 Green Hill Road in Madison.

The Jets, in only their third season playing at the varsity level, beat Capital Prep in the first round and East Hampton in the second before qualifying for the quarterfinals against Creed from North Haven. The teams played Monday at the Learning Corridor in Hartford where the Jets gained a significant lead in the second half, capitalizing on a 15-1 run to begin the third quarter.

“To go from winning a total of only three games two years ago to winning three games in the State Tournament this season is a testament to this group of student athletes and their hard work. They are a special group of student athletes and it’s such a good feeling to see their hard work paying off. I am very proud of them,” said Aerospace Head Coach, Dean Parkington.
