CREC Encourages Businesses to Host an Intern

(Hartford, CT) CREC is encouraging area businesses to participate in the Re-Investment in Senior Employment (RISE) project by hosting an intern.

The project is coordinated by CREC and funded by a grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Participants in the program are 50 years of age or older. They have past work experience, but are currently unemployed.

During the first part of the RISE program, CREC, Jewish Family Services, Capital Workforce Partners, and Career Resources, Inc. offer the participants a skills assessment, job readiness training, job search assistance, and personal support. This is followed by a four-week, unpaid internship with cooperating businesses and agencies.

Each RISE participant is assigned a dedicated job coach who serves as the liaison between the worker and the participating company throughout the internship. Internships offer RISE participants with a structured transition back into the working world and provide area companies with reliable, experienced workers.

At the conclusion of the program, RISE participants are well trained in current office skills. Those skills combined with their past work experiences make them valuable assets to any company.

If you are interested in hosting a RISE intern, contact Mary Lou Molloy, the RISE project coordinator, at 860-509-3649.
