Glastonbury-East Hartford Magnet Collects Items for Food Pantry
(Glastonbury, CT) In the three weeks preceding the McKeen Law Firm Race to Fill the Pantry 5K on November 8th, students and staff at Glastonbury-East Hartford Magnet School collected 1,434 non-perishable food items for the Glastonbury Food Pantry.
The food drive doubled as a school-wide competition. Each classroom competed to see who could donate the most items, and a bar graph was displayed at the school to show progress.
The food drive provided Glastonbury-East Hartford Magnet School, an interdistrict magnet school operated by CREC, with an opportunity to give back to the Glastonbury community, and it was a chance for the school to support the overall efforts of the Glastonbury River Runners, a local running club that sponsors the McKeen Law Firm Race to Fill the Pantry 5K.
Proceeds from the annual race benefit both the Glastonbury-East Hartford Magnet School’s Greenleaf Committee, a school group that organizes events that promotes healthier, happier, and smarter living, and the Glastonbury Food Pantry.
