CREC Students Learn from the Hartford Wolf Pack

(Bloomfield, CT) Sixth-grade students at the CREC Metropolitan Learning Center for Global and International Studies are learning a few lessons from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

It started earlier this month when students from the school attended the Wolf Pack’s first-ever School Day Game at the XL Center in Hartford. At that time, the Wolf Pack launched its Kindness Campaign, which focuses on the importance of treating others with respect and consideration. The team has a kindness pledge that it encourages children to sign, and students at the CREC Metropolitan Learning Center for Global and International Studies have done so.

A few weeks later, Wolf Pack players Ryan Bourque and Matt Bodie visited the CREC Metropolitan Learning Center for Global and International Studies to talk about the team’s reading program called Read to the Rink. Participating students will read five teacher-approved books within a specific time period. Those who complete the challenge get a free ticket to a Wolf Pack game. Parents, guardians, and siblings will be offered discounted tickets.

In addition to the reading program, the Wolf Pack players also spoke with students about how to recognize bullying, about the impact of bullying, and about how deal with bullying problems.
