Arts Academy Student Takes Top Honors on Project Runway Threads

(Hartford, CT) Zoe Grinfeld, a junior at the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, won Lifetime’s “Project Runway: Threads” on December 18, 2014.

“Project Runway: Threads” is a competition that showcases the work of young fashion designers, and it was created by the producers of “Project Runway.” It airs on Lifetime on Thursdays at 10 p.m., and three new contestants compete on the show each week.

Zoe lives in Colchester. She is a theater design and production major at the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts and will intern with dance choreographer Bill T. Jones in New York next summer.

“We are all so proud of her at theater design and production,” said Gail Fresia, Zoe’s fashion teacher. “She is very talented and maintains high grades while working on many of our shows, and she found time to go to Los Angeles and shoot ‘Project Runway: Threads.’ Her design work is creative and thoughtful. Her spirit and dedication to the arts is what keeps us all teaching!”

CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Principal Jeffrey Ostroff echoed Fresia’s comments.

“Zoe represents all that is excellent at the arts academy,” he said. “Not only does she shine as a budding young fashion designer and stage manager, but she is one of our finest academic students, achieving high honors and taking our most rigorous courses. Her creativity, strength, and her care for our community make her one of our most respected citizens.”
