Governor Malloy to Visit the Real Ambassadors on July 16

Governor Malloy will be visiting the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts on Monday, July 16 to give a warm send off to the Real Ambassadors at one of their final rehearsals before heading to London for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

The Real Ambassadors, a high school jazz group from the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts in Hartford, was one of a select few groups asked to perform at the Games, and the only non-professional group invited to perform. This opportunity is one that will prove to be life changing for the students.

The Real Ambassadors have a long history of recognition within the music community. Under the leadership of director Dianne Mower, the student group has worked to revive the old style jazz choir and most recently took first place at the Berklee High School Jazz Festival Competition.

The community is invited to attend the rehearsal with Governor Malloy. The rehearsal will be held in the Greater Hartford Academy for the Arts Theater located at 15 Vernon Street, from 1-2 p.m. The school is asking for a $10 donation from those attending to help cover the costs for the students to perform in London. If you cannot attend or are interested in giving more, please visit: http://www.crec.org/grants/foundation/gift.php. Donations will be used to support the students in representing Connecticut at the Olympic Games.
