CREC currently coordinates over 250 routes for over 5,000 students throughout Greater Hartford. The Transportation department provides services for selected CREC and regional Choice programs. Staff also provides special education transportation to selected districts. The goal is to achieve cost savings for districts by combining services to common out-of-district destinations.

CREC Transportation department has:

• Professional transportation assistants and a transportation coordinator provide high-quality customer service to students, parents, schools, and districts.
• Drivers trained by professional staff from CREC’s special education schools.

CREC is ready to help districts with a regional transportation plan by:

• Working with districts to design and implement a regional transportation plan for a group of districts.
• Reviewing current transportation systems and needs to identify new efficiencies.
