The School for Young Children on Asylum Hill will be a socially and economically integrated school serving urban and suburban children from birth through grade three.

Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center
The Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center is a partnership involving CREC and Farmington Valley school districts. The Center provides services to students with learning and behavior problems, including: short-term diagnostic and interim alternative placements; specialized evaluations to design improved educational and behavior management strategies; supported transition back to local school districts from more restrictive settings; and family support and counseling to improve home-school collaboration and cooperation. Integrated Program Models
Through special education and related services, IPM offers year-round services to children with severe and multiple disabilities in classrooms in public schools as well as through home and hospital-based services. Occupational and physical therapy and assistive technology services are provided in local districts throughout the region. Polaris Center
Polaris provides residential, full and partial-day special education programs and services to children with severe emotional, behavioral and learning disorders. Services include behavioral intervention and support as well as on-site psychiatric consultation and management of psychoactive medication.

Polaris also offers a specialized program (APEX) for students who have been expelled from local school districts. Staff include licensed psychologists, social workers and nurses. River Street School
River Street School provides special education day and extended day services to children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and behavior disorders. In addition, River Street provides home and center-based programs in discrete trial training for young children with autism, assistive technology services and sensory integration treatment. Staff represent school psychology, behavioral intervention, nursing, social work, speech and language, occupational and physical therapy. On-site psychiatric and neurological consultation is provided, as well as management of psychoactive medication.

River Street also offers specialized sensory integration and developmental clinics as well as behavioral consultation to local school districts. River Street Autism Program
Through its facilities in Windsor and Hartford, the River Street Autism Program provides children with autism home-based services; offers individual consultation for public school students; runs Model Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) classrooms in public schools; consults with school districts on developing early intervention and preschool programs; and operates a full-day, extended year ABA program in a school setting. Soundbridge
Soundbridge is a comprehensive Auditory Oral program for children and adolescents with hearing impairments from birth to age twenty-one. Soundbridge offers statewide services under the Birth to Three program, an inclusive Early Learning Center and special education and inclusive classes in public schools. Soundbridge also provides special educational support to children with hearing impairments in public school through consulting teachers, oral interpreters, full audiological service including equipment rental and repair and a special program for young children with cochlear implants. CREC Magnet Schools Special Education
The Division of Student Services works with local school districts to design and implement special education and related services to identified special education students in CREC's magnet schools.
