- The School for Young Children on Asylum Hill will be a model for socio-
economically integrated education and for effective approaches to closing the “achievement gap.”
- The School for Young Children on Asylum Hill will be a center where teachers model the best practices of early childhood education and internalize the importance and power of a positive and strong relationship with each child and family.
- The School will be used as a learning laboratory for an active education research program that offers professional development resources for future teachers and enrichment resources for practicing teachers in the Capitol Region.
- The School – being both an early childhood education center and an educational resource center for the community – will serve many families in the area, not just the enrolled students.
- The School will be one of many examples of Hartford’s commitment to young children and of its leadership in early childhood education.
- The School will be a source of pride for the Asylum Hill community and a shining light for Hartford.
