| The Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center was created by school districts in the Greater Hartford area to serve students with learning and behavior issues that have led to temporary removals from their regular schools.
The Center provides short-term diagnostic and specialized evaluations that help the team of parents, experts and school officials determine the educational and behavior management strategies best suited for each student.
Key to the program is the supported transition back to the students' school districts following their work at FVDC, coupled with family support and counseling to continue the home-school collaboration built through this program.
The Center has been in operation since 1998 and continues to expand its services. Currently, services are offered in three general categories:
Diagnostic Services - eight- to 12-week assessment program including educational and counseling components
Extended Transition Program - for students who need additional time to successfully manage a transition back to their home schools
Outreach Program - services are provided in the student's home school by staff from the Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center
