Diagnostic Services
For students who are experiencing significant difficulties in their own schools or in transitioning from one educational setting to another, every day can be frustrating.

Consider the diagnostic services of the Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center for students who are:

  • easily frustrated with school tasks and routines
  • resistant to learning
  • experiencing frequent failure in academic and social situations

The Center provides a short-term placement that gives students a positive break and the opportunity to better understand their own special strengths, while developing the skills necessary to function successfully in their schools, families and communities.

The assessment period runs between eight and 12 weeks and involves family members and school officials throughout the process, including the important transition back to the home school.

The student's day at the Center consists of academic classes in the morning to keep pace with his or her school curriculum, followed by counseling groups and physical exercise in the afternoon.
