The Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center will offer summer programming for middle and high school students for 4 weeks during July. The program will run from 8:30 to 12:30 Monday through Friday, July 2 through July 30. Program personnel will include Barbara Chatfield, Director of the Diagnostic Center, as well as program Special Education teachers, Associate Instructors and counselor. A student to staff ratio of 5 to 1 will be maintained.
Middle School Program Design:
- A positive and nurturing environment to foster positive peer interactions and good decision making
- Reinforcement of math and reading skills through individualized and group instruction
- Daily recreational and community activities to promote improved social and problem solving skills
- Individual/group counseling and family support services
High School Program Design:
- Functional math and reading skills
- Reinforcement of social skills through group activities and community exploration
- Transitional activities focusing on vocational preparedness, post secondary explorations and daily living skills.
