Comprehensive School Guidance and Counseling

Comprehensive School Guidance and Counseling in Connecticut focuses on the uniqueness of all students in three areas of development: academic, career and personal/social. These domains are in alignment with the American School Counselor Associaiton (ASCA) national sandards. The program components include the guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services and program management.

Connecticut Career Pathways

A Career Pathway is a coherent, articulated sequence of rigorous academic and career/technical courses, commencing in the ninth grade and leading to an associate degree, baccalaureate degree and beyond, an industry recognized certificate, and/or licensure. The Career Pathway is developed, implemented, and maintained in partnership among secondary and postsecondary education, business, and employers. Career Pathways are available to all students, including adult learners, and lead to rewarding careers.

Substitute House Bill No. 6498 and Amendment LCO No. 7483 - An Act Concerning Implementation Dates for Secondary School Reform.
Lines 1-8 for the school year commencing July 1, 2012, and each school year thereafter, each local and regional board of education shall create a student success plan for each student enrolled in a public school, beginning in grade six. Such student success plan shall include a student’s career and academic choices in grades six to twelve, inclusive."
