Inclusion / LRE

The LRE team provides technical assistance and consultative services in the area of special education. Services include workshop training and professional development, consultation, technical assistance, and coaching services to schools systems, school based teams as well as for individual student program development and analysis. The LRE team offers a wide array of services related to special education, specialized instruction and inclusive instructional practices, for example: how to write IEP’s connected to standards and frameworks; student program analysis utilizing research based data; strategies for best practices in collaboration; national co-teaching expertise for co-teaching training and system development; developing inclusive practices for instruction, modifications, scheduling and grading; training and support to develop positive behavior supports; The University of Kansas “Strategic Instruction Model” training; inclusion coaching and inclusion facilitator development.

Leadership Team Institute for Successful Inclusive Schools: Leadership teams comprised of central office and building leadership staff attend 6 workshops on practical strategies to promote inclusive practices in their school. Presenters will be practicing leaders who have developed effective inclusion strategies.

Embedding Special Education and Related Services within the General Education Curriculum: This two day workshop for inclusion teams, regular and special education teachers, speech and language clinicians,  paraprofessionals, OTs, and  PTs will provide participants with a systematic multi-disciplinary approach where specialized instruction, therapy, accommodations and modifications are embedded throughout the day, throughout the general education curriculum and are specific to student needs.

How to Facilitate a Futures Planning Session: One day workshop, with follow-up technical assistance, instructs school personnel to prepare for, facilitate and utilize a PATH Futures Planning session to assist parents, school personnel and other interested parties in the development of a positive futures plan.

Successful Home/School Collaboration for Students with Attention Deficit Disorder: This co-sponsored, half day workshop is provided by the Learning Disabilities Association and CREC to families and school personnel. Participants are encouraged to attend in home/school teams as the outcome of this activity is to increase effective ways to collaborate. Participants will hear from recognized experts in the field and have time to work together toward improving academic and social skills of students with attention deficit disorder
