Sue Comey
Special Education Teacher

Sue Comey provides consultation and support services to districts on best practices in serving students with disabilities. As a certified special education teacher with 30 years of teaching experience Sue provides teachers, paraprofessionals, and related services staff with practical suggestions to improve student success in a variety of educational settings. Sue has expertise in facilitating inclusion for students with multiple handicaps and/or medical issues by assisting teachers and paraprofessionals to support student independence and success in inclusive settings using best practices such as standards based IEPs, co-teaching, multisensory language arts instruction, and transdisciplinary service delivery model.

Sue has been employed by CREC since August, 1987 and worked in Integrated Program Models division until August, 2007 when she joined the Special Services Support Team.  Her educational career has spanned the educational service continuum ranging from segregated hospital setting to fully inclusive settings.

Sue has worked with the adult service system through involvement with the ARC of Southington where she currently serves as President and ARC/CT where she currently serves as First Vice President. Sue uses her expertise in working with parents to promote student success.
