Common Core State Standards Implementation Videos
These videos were commissioned by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and The Hunt Institute to aid states in understanding and implementing the Common Core State Standards. The videos feature some of the lead authors and architects of the CCSS.

SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC)
The SMARTER Balanced Consortium is one of two state-led groups developing new assessments aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Connecticut is a governing state in SBAC and is taking an active role in the consortium through representation on several workgroups. Visit their site for updated information on the new assessments.

Maine Department of Education
The Maine Department of Education assembled resources and training materials to create 3 “modules” to support the understanding, alignment and implementation of the Common Core Standards. Many good resources can be found here including tools to examine text complexity and cognitive rigor.

Carol Jago Video
In September 2011, Carol Jago presented to area educators on how the Common Core State Standards will impact English Language Arts instruction. She specifically discussed text complexity, close reading and the shifts that will need to be made to curriculum and instruction.

This Pennsylvania Department of Education web site offers many resources aligned to the Common Core including model units that include learning progressions, lesson plans, and content resources, an assessment generator, series of training modules, and more.
