Common Core State Standards Implementation Videos
These videos were commissioned by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and The Hunt Institute to aid states in understanding and implementing the Common Core State Standards. The videos feature some of the lead authors and architects of the CCSS.
SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC)
The SMARTER Balanced Consortium is one of two state-led groups developing new assessments aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Connecticut is a governing state in SBAC and is taking an active role in the consortium through representation on several workgroups. Visit their site for updated information on the new assessments.

This site contains sample curriculum maps aligned to the Common Core State Standards. The Common Core Curriculum Mapping Project is created and operated by Common Core and funded in part by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Arizona Department of Education
Arizona’s site contains several resources and work related to the Common Core State Standards
Teachers College Reading & Writing Project
The Reading and Writing Project developed grade-level based calendars to show how their units align to the Common Core State Standards.

Oregon Department of Education
Oregon developed an “implementation toolkit” for the Common Core State Standards. The site has a wealth of resources for teachers, district staff, parents and students.
CCSSO webinar on Text Complexity
The Teaching Channel has over 80 videos of lessons aligned to the Common Core.
Maine Department of Education
The Maine Department of Education assembled resources and training materials to create 3 “modules” to support the understanding, alignment and implementation of the Common Core Standards. Many good resources can be found here including tools to examine text complexity and cognitive rigor.

Carol Jago Video
In September 2011, Carol Jago presented to area educators on how the Common Core State Standards will impact English Language Arts instruction. She specifically discussed text complexity, close reading and the shifts that will need to be made to curriculum and instruction.

This site provides sample performance materials, including tasks, rubrics and annotated student work. The tasks are classroom tested and can be used for assessment, instruction and professional development.
The lexile website provides an overview of the lexile measures for texts and readers and a variety of resources to help educators use Lexile measures as one component in ensuring student readiness.
Pennsylvania Department of Education Standards Aligned System
This Pennsylvania Department of Education web site offers many resources aligned to the Common Core including model units that include learning progressions, lesson plans, and content resources, an assessment generator, series of training modules, and more.
ReadWorks is a national non-profit organization that provides free, research-based, and Common Core-aligned reading comprehension curriculum for grades K-6. This site provides over 1000 non-fiction reading passages for teacher use.
