Through a volume-license agreement, CREC offers to Consortium member districts the Remark optical mark recognition (OMR) data-extraction software. Data managers can use this tool to configure existing assessments to include bubble-sheet forms. When schools scan completed assessments through a scanner or multi-purpose device, the Remark software extracts student responses into a standard spreadsheet format for review and tabulation.
The Remark package includes the following benefits:
- Faster input of assessment data
- Reduction in input errors
- Ability to review original student responses
Through optional professional-development sessions offered by CREC, educators can learn how to complete the following time-saving tasks:
- Configure existing assessments (MS Word format) as bubble forms using multiple-choice and rubric-based scoring
- Scan and score tests
- Import additional data into MS Excel files
- Graphically represent student performance automatically
- Group students according to strengths and learning needs
- Save data for collaborative team meetings
- Review student performance to support modify instructional modifications
- Build a repertoire of collaborative teaming and tuning protocols
- Easily hand off student information to next year’s teachers
- Receive organized, systematic student information from last year’s teachers
Administrators trained on the use of Remark can appreciate the following additional benefits:
- Have a data tool for conversation starters with individual educators, instructional teams, and other district administrators
- Create surveys to staff, students, and parents
- Link performance data to NCLB grouping criteria and examine pre- and post-test gains
The standard Remark installation package includes the following components:
- One (1) licenses seat to Remark Office OMR version 6.0
