Upcoming Courses
Beginning with Summer 2008, a summer format AMI Elementary level course (6-12) will be offered. This course spans three consecutive summers (2008, 2009, 2010) with 90 hours of observations and 120 hours of practicum completed between the summer sessions.

Class sessions for both courses are held Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
The AMI training courses includes lectures, the creation of reference/curriculum albums, practical sessions with the materials, material-making, and oral and written examinations. Course lectures highlight the Montessori philosophy and examine materials and lessons in core curriculum areas, specific to the level of training.
AMI requires a minimum attendance of 90% and full participation in the course in order to qualify to take written and oral examinations.
An AMI diploma is granted upon satisfactory completion of the course requirements in lecture attendance, observation, practical sessions, material-making, submission of reference/curriculum albums for all content areas and the practice teaching component, plus passing scores on both written examinations and the oral examinations.
The Foundation Course
The Foundation Course is required for all Elementary Course students who do not already hold an AMI Primary level diploma. This Foundation Course provides a comprehensive overview of the theory of child development and content of the work at the Primary level. This course is conducted by an AMI Primary trainer and precedes the start of the actually Elementary Course. This course will be conducted at the Montessori Training Center of New England from Monday, June 16, 2008- Wednesday, July 16, 2008.
The next AMI Primary level course (3-6) is projected to begin in Summer of 2009. The course also spans three consecutive summers (2009, 2010, 2011) with observations and practicum completed between the summer sessions.
