CREC’s Transportation Office is responsible for the coordination of outstanding transportation services for students participating in the Open Choice Program, CREC and Hartford operated magnet schools, the State Vocational Agriculture and Technical Schools and other Greater Hartford Choice Programs. 

As a leader in school transportation, CREC also offers special education van transportation, management services, consulting services, regionalization planning, and brokering services through our current vendors.

CREC coordinates transportation for more than 7,000 students over 1,119 square miles in 43 towns to 165 schools.  CREC contracts over 300 routes to reputable bus companies.

The process of providing inter-district transportation is a very complex task.  CREC helps facilitate coordination between the students, families, schools, and bus providers.  The CREC Transportation Office's friendly staff are available to assist parents and schools with concerns they may have and to help acclimate students and their families to the inter-district transportation process.
