The institute staff works with teachers and curriculum coordinators in Kindergarten through grade 12 to ensure a strong alignment between curriculum and state framework. Areas of focus include curriculum mapping, assessment development, differentiated instruction, and research-based instructional strategies. Staff members also will assist teachers with how to prepare students for state assessments.
The Math Workshop model focuses on cultivating and developing all learners’ understanding by creating and facilitating learning experiences that invite students to construct and negotiate deep conceptual understanding, as well as develop fluency with numbers. Participants will gain a greater understanding of focus, congruence, and rigor and how to structure your lessons, set up your classroom, establish routines, and create materials to support differentiated instruction. It includes constructing mini lessons and guided math instruction, establishing centers, rotations and stations; and sharing work. The professional learning is for elementary teachers (K-5) math educators (6-8).
