Educators gain a strong
understanding of the major concepts through
their work in levels one and two, but will
need to apply what they have learned in a
structured and supportive environment in
order to refine what they know, are able
to do, and understand. This requires both
support for teachers as they continue to
develop unit designs and for administrators
as they continue to address implementation
issues through their action plan.
CREC staff provides on-site support to facilitate
curriculum development and to address implementation
concerns. This enables participants to adapt
UbD to individual school needs and master
more effective curriculum design.
This training can include (but is not limited
to):
- Adapting the UbD template to fit the
needs of an individual district
- Building personnel capacity to facilitate
peer review
- Developing opportunities for teachers
to collaborate across grade levels and
subject areas
- Connecting UbD to school evaluation and
improvement planning
- Publishing units in print form and electronically.
