Lincoln Academy is designed to address the needs of students in grades 6-12 who have demonstrated an episode(s) of extremely poor judgment, or who struggle with social, familial, or intrapersonal difficulties that impact their ability to succeed in a public school setting.
Developed in collaboration with Hartford Stage and Leadership Greater Hartford, students will create and perform a devised piece of theatre under the guidance of artists-in-residence from Hartford Stage.
Center for Creative Youth
A four-week summer residency in the arts for talented high school students. This program increases artistic and academic skills in an advanced and intensive arts curriculum, and reduces racial isolation as diverse students live and work together.
This three-year program partners urban and suburban schools in grades 4, 5, and 6 to enhance student diversity, raise student awareness of diversity issues, and to increase student motivation and skills through the use of new and prior knowledge.
Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program
The Capital Workforce Partners Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program is a tier structured 5-6 week summer work and learn experience for students between grades 8 and 12.
CREC Family Resource Center
A one-stop service center for families and students who attend CREC Magnet Schools or suburban schools through Hartford Region Open Choice. A meeting space for parents and educators and information sessions and forums on a range of school and child development issues.
Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center
The Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center (FVDC) provides an interim educational setting for students who are experiencing significant difficulties in their own school or transitioning from one educational setting to another.
A variety of online learning programs that expand learning opportunities.
A leadership development institute for high school students that help them understand and appreciate the rich diversity in our communities, identify issues of bias and intolerance, and develop leadership skills that will enable them to create positive change.
Academy for Life, Employment, and Purpose (LEAP)
LEAP offers structured support and guidance from caring adults to enable students success in job settings and with independent living skills. Students have (or nearly) finished grade 12, may have an intellectual disability, mental health diagnosis, or other challenges.
Connections offers students in grades 9-12 extra structure, support, and creative incentives to stay engaged in the learning environment and to promote positive goals for the future. Significant focus is placed on vocational training and experience.
Educators in the region annualy select a piece of literature that highlights a key area of teaching and learning. Participants will receive a copy of the book and a study guide so that they can create book clubs in their districts.
Strategies to Improve Executive Functioning
CREC's work with C8 Sciences of New Haven resulted in new strategies and techniques to support students struggling with attention deficit. The partnership allows districts access to this tool with training through CREC.
Developing and Implementing Secondary Transition Planning
Technical assistance and professional development for transition planning. CREC specialists work with staff to complete a transition plan that connects all annual goals, objectives, and activities.
River Street Extended Day/Year Programs
Extended year (up to 240 days) and extended day (as late as 7:00 pm daily) programs available for students needing additional support and instruction.
