Displaced families and children, who are relocating to the Hartford region from Puerto Rico and the Caribbean islands as the result of recent hurricanes, can now get services and supplies at no charge at a temporary center. Centro de Ayuda Para Nuestros Amigos Caribeños (Help Center for our Caribbean Friends) is located at 15 Van Dyke Ave., Hartford. The goal is to help people start their new lives here as quickly and seamlessly as possible with the aid of volunteer staff, support services, and supplies from community, state, and city partners. The center expects to serve and support many individuals in the coming months.

How You Can Help

Interested in volunteering?

Your workplace can send volunteers to help sort donations and stock shelves. We also welcome donations of time from concerned individuals.

Current Volunteering Opportunities

We are currently in need of volunteers to assist with sorting donations and greeting at the Relief Center. All volunteers must register and receive training prior to working in the Relief Center. Training is offered 30 minutes prior to each posted shift.

When the doors open, our work is really just beginning. We’ll need ongoing donations of everyday essentials, such as food (non-perishable items only), clothing, baby necessities, and gift cards to help these folks get back on their feet in the challenging weeks and months ahead. Monetary donations are also appreciated. 100% of all donations will be put to good use to benefit families.
