CREC Public Safety Academy Gets a New Principal
(Enfield, CT) CREC’s Public Safety Academy has a new principal.
Jeff Larson comes to CREC from Hartford Public Schools. He is currently an assistant principal at Hartford’s Classical Magnet School and will start his new position with CREC in February.
“As a district committed to excellence, our goal was to identify an exemplary leader for the Public Safety Academy community,” said CREC Superintendent Dina Crowl. “I am pleased that after a comprehensive search we have found a principal that fully supports the school’s mission, vision, and commitment to academic excellence. We are excited to have Jeff Larson join our leadership team. We believe that Jeff’s diverse background, contagious enthusiasm, and passion will serve him well as principal of this great school.”
Prior to his time at Classical Magnet School, Larson was a teacher, dean, athletic director, and coach. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, and he served in the Connecticut Army National Guard. Larson earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and sixth-year degrees from UConn.
As an educator and school administrator, Larson’s No. 1 goal is to be a servant leader, and he intends to be an active presence in all aspects of the CREC Public Safety Academy community. Larson will bring to the school his passion for education, a general enthusiasm for the public safety theme, and a commitment to excellence.
“Our focus at the CREC Public Safety Academy will be to prepare each of our students for success, whether they choose to pursue a college education, a career in public safety, or both,” Larson said. “Our focus at the CREC Public Safety Academy will be to prepare each of our students for success in college and career.”
Since the start of the school year, the CREC Public Safety Academy has been led by interim principal Adam Johnson. When Larson takes over, Johnson will resume his duties as CREC’s director of secondary education.
