Connecticut Fire Academy Donates Books to CREC's Public Safety Academy

(Enfield, CT) CREC’s Public Safety Academy recently received more than 50 textbooks and training manuals about fire service from the Connecticut Fire Academy.

“We appreciate the fire academy’s generosity and support, and we look forward to continuing to build a strong relationship with the fire academy and all of our community members as we develop tomorrow’s leaders today,” said school Principal Jeff Larson.

The retail value of the books totaled more than $7,000. In addition to the donation, Connecticut Fire Academy staff and adjunct instructors regularly support the themed magnet school’s mission in other ways. For example, they mentor students.

“Students from the CREC Public Safety Academy are the future leaders of Connecticut’s fire and public safety related agencies,” said Jeffrey J. Morrissette, of the Connecticut Fire Academy. “The Connecticut Fire Academy is fully committed to supporting and enhancing the educational opportunities for all Public Safety Academy students.”

CREC’s Public Safety Academy educates students in grades six through 12. Students who would like to attend the school must apply for admission through the Greater Hartford Regional School Choice Office lottery. The lottery application period for the 2015-2016 academic year closes on February 27. For more information, visit www.crecschools.org.
