CREC School Receives Donation From Ana Grace Project

(Avon, CT) On behalf of the CREC Ana Grace Academy of the Arts Elementary School, the CREC Foundation recently accepted a generous donation from The Ana Grace Project.

The $8,100 donation will be used to purchase musical instruments and equipment for the school, such as violins, dance shoes, and music stands.

“We are delighted and in awe of the generous contribution made to our school by the Ana Grace Project,” said CREC Ana Grace Academy Principal Patricia Phelan. “We are truly blessed and look forward to a continued partnership with the Greene’s and The Ana Grace Project. Ana’s memory and our commitment to providing an excellent education combine into a driving force on behalf of our students.”

The Ana Grace Project is a program of the Klingberg Family Centers, a private nonprofit organization. The initiative was established in memory of Newtown victim Ana Grace Marquez-Greene—the elementary school’s namesake.

Ana Grace is the daughter of Nelba Marquez-Greene and Jimmy Greene, alumni of the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts and former CREC teachers.

The Ana Grace Project raised the money donated to the CREC Ana Grace Academy during the Dance for Ana with Love event, which was held in Enfield in April.

“The next best thing to having Ana here with us is knowing that we are promoting love, community, and connection in her name,” said Nelba Marquez-Greene. “We are so thrilled to partner with CREC and pray to make this an annual event alongside the Dance for Ana with Love crew.”
