CREC and Central Connecticut State University to Hold Conference on Mindfulness

Summary:

On December 10 and December 11, CREC, along with Central Connecticut State University, will hold a conference about mindfulness on the university’s New Britain campus.

Mindfulness is being aware of what is happening in the present moment, and the practice has been integrated successfully into many fields, including mental health, business and industry, and education.

Those interested in learning more about mindfulness can register for one or both days of the conference. Each day will feature a different keynote speaker. Linda Lantieri, director of The Inner Resilience Program, will speak on December 10 at Alumni Hall. On December 11, Brandon Nappi, executive director of the Copper Beech Institute, will deliver the keynote address at Constitution Hall, and James Tillman, an inspirational speaker and author, will talk to participants during lunch.

The conference will include breakout sessions to help participants learn about how mindfulness can help them in the many facets of their lives. Breakout sessions include, but are not limited to, Mindfulness in Early Childhood; Mindfulness and Yoga in the K-8 Therapeutic Classroom; Teaching Mindfulness in a Maximum Security Prison; and Mindful Maneuvers: Using Breath, Body, Mind with Military and Veterans.

To participate in the conference, there is a cost of $100 per day. To learn more about the conference or to register, visit www.crec.org/mindfulness.

You can also join @CRECEducation on November 19 at 4 p.m. for a Twitter chat about mindfulness. This chat will generate discussion prior to the December conference. To participate in the Twitter chat, follow #CRECchat.
