Since 1966, the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC), working with and for its member districts, has developed a wide array of cost-effective and high-quality programs and services to meet the educational needs of children and adults in Greater Hartford.

Program Evaluation

For school districts with questions about the impact of an instructional program or strategy on outcomes for students, CREC Resource Group staff can assist with the development of evaluation questions, identify appropriate sources of data, and design and implement an evaluation protocol. CREC will ensure that the district has the evidence needed to support programmatic decisions.

Analysis of Recruitment and Selection Process

CREC can review your district's current processes and provide recommendations to gain focus on the key elements of the hiring process. CREC has the expertise to assist districts in the areas of developing documents, creating recruitment plans, defining advertising resources, screening, interviewing and selecting candidates, and hiring qualified staff.

Business and Financial Services

These are challenging times for school districts. Educators are working with fewer resources, but there are greater expectations placed on all. CREC Business Services can help by providing services that assist districts in planning, monitoring, and managing the financial affairs of the district. By enlisting our help, a district can reduce their own workload and personnel needs.

Construction and Facilities Budgeting, Forecasting, and Management

CREC Construction's finance department focuses solely on construction, utilizing budget forecasting tools, document management systems, invoice review protocols, grant reimbursement tracking, and proper closeout procedures. It is difficult for volunteers on a school building committee to get consistent daily reporting on the progress of construction on a large capital project. As a clerk of the works, CREC represents the interest of clients to ensure that high quality standards and superior workmanship are being met on your construction project.

Review of Diversity and Equal Opportunity

CREC can help districts provide effective leadership through the review of recruitment policies and procedures, legal compliance in advertising, promotion and transfer procedures of internal candidates, and applicant screening efforts.

Speech and Language Services

CREC's Speech and Language Services and Speech Language Pathologist team offer autism diagnosis, social communication, speech-language consultation, executive-functioning skills, ecological evaluations, integration, fluency, staffing services, and program reviews.
