Julie is a licensed Speech Pathologist. As such, she provides Needs Assessments, Professional Development, and Technical Assistance to districts throughout CT. She specializes in the areas of Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), Inclusion, Co-Teaching, and Accommodations / Modifications. As an SLP, she trains, mentors, and supports school-based Speech Pathologists in Inclusive Speech-Language therapy, Language & Literacy, Phonemic Awareness, Visual Supports & Strategies for children with PDD, CAPD, ADD, ADHD and behavioral disorders, as well as Language Learning & Literacy for children who are deaf/hard of hearing.
Julie Giaccone is a seasoned Speech Pathologist who has worked in schools in Florida, Wisconsin, and Connecticut. Throughout her career, she has served as a school-based Speech Pathologist, CFY Supervisor, Mentor, Co-Teacher in Varying Exceptionalities model, Inclusion Facilitator, and Special Education Department Head. She has written language-based Science and Social Studies curriculum units and designed Inclusive Service Delivery models for Special Education Teachers, Speech Pathologists, and other Related-Services professionals. In addition, as the mother of a child who is deaf, she is fluent in sign language, well versed in IDEA, and has served as a consultant and advocate for families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing. |
