IBEST is a model that concurrently provides basic literacy education and occupational skills training to ABE/GED/ESL students. This integrated approach prepares students for various careers in industries where support skills are in demand or part of expected job requirements.
This 12-week IBEST course is run in conjunction with Manchester Community College, and it helps adult learners obtain their medical office assistant certification while providing opportunity to receive six college credits along with ELL classes designed to improve reading, writing, listening, and oral communication skills. The training consists of three components including, communication skills, computer skills, and medical office terminology. There's also an internship to practice classroom knowledge in a medical office setting.
