The Capitol Region Education Council, responding to stated needs from our partner districts, has designed the Made in the Shade summer program to meet the academic, social/emotional, recreational and behavioral needs of students entering grades 1 through grade 5.

Program Dates

July 2 — July 27
Monday through Friday
8:30 — Noon

Location

Reggio Magnet School Of The Arts
59 Waterville Rd
Avon, CT 06001

The program is designed to serve students who are experiencing challenges in peer and adult interactions, behavior and self-regulation. The program will include an administrator, a special education teacher, social worker, paraprofessional, and support from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. The program will focus on academic maintenance, social skills development and recreation.

Basic math and reading skills identified by each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) will be reinforced with daily individualized and group instruction. Strengthening social skills and daily living skills will permeate all aspects of the program. Individual and small group work with the social worker will be offered as identified on the IEP.

Recreational Activities will occur throughout the program to enable students to practice their academic and social skills in the community.
