Illustrative Mathematics is a problem-based mathematics curriculum that develops a student's mathematical thinking skills through questioning, discussion, and real-world contexts and connections. We offer a full suite of professional learning opportunities, as well as Math Center Kits for students to practice skills and concepts developed across the year.
The Common Core standards introduced greater complexity in math word problems than those taught in years past. Due to a lack of sample word problems to pull from, teachers are forced to spend the time creating their own bank of practice problems to use with their students. PBandMath provides an easy to use generator to create math word problems for classroom practice. Through our web app, teachers are able to generate hundreds of word problems aligned to the Common Cores. Teachers can build a bank of problems in minutes to create on the fly practice in the classroom, plan ahead by saving their bank, and printed their questions for small group or individual practice. Through our Projection Mode, teachers can display the word problems for whole class instruction.
The Math Workshop model focuses on cultivating and developing all learners' understanding by creating and facilitating learning experiences that invite students to construct and negotiate deep conceptual understanding, as well as develop fluency with numbers.
