CREC offers mindfulness professional development for administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, PE teachers, school nurses, physical therapists and more.
Workshops can be customized to meet specific district/school needs. Titles include Mindfulness Basics, Educator Self-Care, Social Emotional Learning through Yoga, Mindfulness, and Yoga 4 Classrooms.
CREC offers mindfulness or yoga training for K-12 students. Students of all ages can benefit in many ways from learning about mindfulness and yoga. Whether through in-class activities, beginning or after school programming, or clubs and groups, there are many great ways to incorporate mindfulness and/or yoga into student learning.
Open to anyone interested in incorporating beneficial mindfulness and yoga practices, the group meets several times during the year to share expertise, valuable resources, and activities that can be used in any setting. Whether you work in education, a behavioral health or medical setting, or are looking to incorporate mindfulness and/or in your personal or family life, join us as we create an open forum for learning and growth.
Increasing numbers of students lack the skills of self-regulation, impulse control and focus, which can negatively affect their behavior, ability to learn, and overall well-being. These critical skills, essential to success at home, in school, and throughout life, can be learned when taught in a developmentally appropriate, engaging way. Sharing yoga and mindfulness techniques, specifically designed for the time and space crunched classroom, is a convenient, engaging, and effective way to promote these skills while cultivating a positive, peaceful, productive classroom climate. This workshop is appropriate for PreK-12 classroom teachers, administrators, special educators, school counselors, school social workers, occupational therapists, SLPs, physical therapists, physical education teachers, health educators, and paraprofessionals. No prior yoga experience or mats are required!
CREC and Central CT State University partner to host a Mindfulness Conference featuring internationally known keynote speakers. Past events have brought Holistic Life Foundation, Tish Jennings, Linda Lantieri, and Daniel Rechtschaffen.
